Floridians Favor Atwater and Bondi in Latest Viewpoint Florida Poll
Republican incumbent Jeff Atwater holds a double-digit lead over Democrat William Rankin in the race for Florida CFO. Atwater posts a 54% to 38% lead over Rankin in Viewpoint Florida’s latest statewide survey of likely Florida voters. Seven percent (7%) are undecided.
Independents chose Atwater by a 56% to 35% margin. Atwater performs best with voters 65+ leading by a 57% to 37%. He also out performs Rankin with Hispanic voters 54% to 42%. The Jacksonville media market is Atwater’s best where he leads 74% to 21%. In the West Palm Beach media market Atwater leads 54% to 37% a surprisingly large margin for a Republican candidate.
Rankin leads in the vote rich Miami media market 54% to 42%. He also beats Atwater among African Americans by a 74% to 16% margin.
Republican Attorney General Pam Bondi leads her Democratic opponent George Sheldon 50% to 41%. Libertarian Bill Wohlsifer draws six percent (6%). Three percent of voters remain undecided. Bondi leads among Independents 56% to 35%. Jacksonville voters give her a 51 point lead (76% to 19%) while voters in the Fort Myers Media Market choose Bondi by an almost 2 to 1 margin (61% to 32%)
Sheldon leads in the Miami (+14%) and West Palm Beach +2%) media markets. He also bests Bondi with Hispanic voters, leading 49% to 43%. Sheldon also wins voters under 35 years old by 45% to 35%.
In the all important Tampa media market Atwater leads Rankin by 52% to 38%. Bondi outdistances Sheldon in the same media market 47% to 42%
The survey of 1050 Likely Voters in Florida was conducted on October 12, 2014 by Viewpoint Florida. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.
